    Hi Mason, It can be very enjoyable to have our dogs off leash. Unfortunately just relying on her knowing the commands without holding her accountable for disobeying them is basically a bluff to her. She has figured out there are no consequences for disobeying so she continues to do so now that she has figured out the “bluff” so to speak.

    First what commands is she not responding to with the remote? Does she understand the escape conditioning with the remote or is she confused? We use the remote with escalating corrections, if the dog understands the command, understands the escape conditioning with the phase 3 remote and is still not listening, then the motivation probably is not enough for her to care about avoiding the distraction and it would be safe to say its ok to escalate.

    Its very important to make sure that she understands the correction first, it would be good to practice a recall with the remote as I believe we discussed. If you need help with knowing how you are doing you can always send a video to you training journals so we can help trouble shoot your issues.
