I agree, people in general seem to view “pets” as petting zoo on the move. I was recently called some colorful names because a mom sent her toddler running over to pet Rogue, I was kneeling down giving her water, so covered Rogues face and said NO loudly at the kid, the kid understood but as the mom picked her up she chewed me out…..I always think of some highly inappropriate comments on the way home…but I have been having more interactions like that now (and my clients report the same) in the last few years than I ever did before. Seems like the rule of “don’t touch other people’s stuff” is not a thing any more? IDK Now I say “she’s not a pet” and people get offended and move along with less conversation.
