The words should come easy, but how do you sum up a relationship that had such a profound impact on you? Orfeo wasnt just a dog to me. He was like my guardian angel, a part of me. He knew my every emotion and move and I knew his. When we were together we were like a single unit, always looking out for one another. He always had my back and I had his. If it wasnt in Orfeo's best interest we simply didnt do it. Our relationship was built on trust, unconditional love and unyielding devotion. He would never back down if I were by his side. He would have given his life to protect me and in return we did our best to give him a life he was free to enjoy. He got to be a big scary protector and a silly puppy at heart. I will miss cleaning every bowl he took outside to play with, every goofy look when the snow fell, the feel of his luxurious coat as he would lean agaisnt me, and every flop to the floor for a belly rub. I am truly thankful to Mike for seeing that he took his first breath and for comforting him with me in his last. It warms my heart to know Orfeo was able to be who he was meant to be, and I am forever grateful that he was meant for me. ❤️
