Things to consider
- Older the better - Ideally at least 2 years old.
- NEED a bond
- Dog cannot have been exposed to abusive/heavy handed handling
- During training, punishment for aggression is BAD, and punishment for disobedience GOOD.
Variations of behavior

Agitation
- Hander - must be a good actor!
- Agitator must understand working dog in DEFENSE
- Focus on the handler, otherwise the same
- May need feedback from a second trainer
- Once empowered, can direct agitator on dog
- Have the owner stand behind the dog
- Does dog make contact with the agitator? When?
- Focus on the handler, otherwise the same

“Mike, this video has the information we were recently discussing in the Q&A regarding the preferred age for when a personal protection dog should start defense training. I may have higher expectations for Kiba because of his genetics and bloodlines from Ara. Here’s an example of Ara’s son, Stroppy, who 12 months, and may be one of those exceptional dogs you spoke about… a natural in-fight drive. Unfortunately, I may not have been as lucky with Kiba’s instincts being as strong as Ara’s other offsprings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRkukQeI7-A&t=7
