I like you standing up; it allows me to see even more. So, of the 3 exercises, she false responded twice on the second aid. The one search she didn’t false respond on the second aid was because the second aid was the correct one. She also watches you a lot—a bit too much. She appears handler-dependent. The dog should not be looking at you until it gets to the source and final response. This is why I move very quickly to take their eyes away. Have you considered either moving to actual searches or using more jars or even better tins and letting free search? Moving to tins, in my opinion, would be a good next step. Get about 10 and spread them out at least 6 by 6 area. When she finds the correct tin, click and toss the treat or ball. While she is getting her R move them around and let search again. This is a faster pace and I think would make more of a game for her. The click allows you to get out of the picture more and will not only make her solely dependent on herself but will also start to get her thresholds moving along. Here are a few fun videos I made. All are puppies. All real searches with hides that are not visible. Watch how they don’t look at me. The last, the 14-week-old puppy on session 2 goes where the odor is strongest which is the aid that I forgot was on the counter. She’s ignoring my prompt to search an area to work the odor she smells that I don’t realize is there until I look up to see why she keeps going there. I have a long video about an hour. I talk about taking the eyes away. At about 50 minutes. you’ll see a puppy about Vetras age, 2nd session and I present the 1st box and she completely ignores and pulls me to the correct box. To her the boxes don’t mean anything she’s only looking for odor and only with her nose. I think Vetra is very intelligent and that something more challenging will be quite easy for her. Mike and I train a bit differently in the beginning but end up with the same result as I have seen his product. I think in this instance, at this stage, though, a more challenging approach may be what she needs. Just my quick 2 cents. Sorry if a bit blunt, I’m not as eloquent as Mike. Its just how me and my father are. Often what means to be a compliment comes across as something else. Love you! 😉
