Thanks for both comments.
Allie I also usually try not to make Koka do something that makes her uncomfortable, but this time it helped for the purpose of the video. Sometimes a session lasts 10 minutes and there is not a single mistake on her part, so for the purposes of the video I took advantage of that a bit. The same thing – we did training before the walk, where she had a lot of energy and was more likely to break the command 😀 When I teach conditioned punisher at the very beginning after each “no” I add a correction and repeat the command, here we are after a couple of lessons and I give the dog a chance to correct herself after the word “no” (or at least I try :D). Koka is also not “too fast,” and I give her an extra second or two before any correction at the command entry. Thanks for your comment! There are a few things to correct that I can already see, everyone wants to be the perfect trainer but why is it so hard 😀
Thanks Jessica! The comparison to the invisible fence is helpful. When teaching Conditioned Punisher, I teach my dog that the word “no” is followed by a punishment. Simply classical conditioning. However, I give him a chance to improve once the dog has conditioned the word “no” with punishment which is an introduction to avoidance conditioning. If I understand correctly during avoidance conditioning if the dog does not try to follow the command I correct him and repeat the cue, without the word no – so I use primary punishment. However, if the dog makes a mistake but tried I use conditioner punisher.
