Have to work with Mother Nature and not fight it. I would assume this is why it is so important in Phase 1 to have no corrections and only positive reinforcement. Then in Phase two using the very minimum amount of correction only after the dog know how to escape it, and continue to build on that with the positive reinforcement so the dog know to keep trying and not shut down.
