    My first thought is to take note of differences in behavior between the cats. Cats that act more like “prey” tend to be “preyed” upon more often, and of course Mals can be obsessive (which gives them such good working endurance), so if the mal just so happened to become obsessed with a certain cat first, especially if the cat is elusive, it may seek out that cat more.
