Over and over again, I notice that ifI make an honest mistake, like inadvertently correcting by stepping on a leash or line or stepping on a paw (not so much as to injure, of course) , when I say ‘Sorry’ and then touch the dog, and sometimes give a treat, that dog gets it. That dog understands that it’s my mistake, not a correction, and that I’ve apologized for that mistake. So simple. Not something I ever thought about in training terms, same as people do with each other.
