This is pretty cool, but technically represents the inspiration for Foundation Style Scent Training. There is nothing cheaper than not needing to make scent boxes at all. Just teach the dog the behavior of finding scent directly in regular objects like bottles, cones, or whatever. Then naturally transition to searching rooms, vehicles, or whatever.
This way, regular clients can work on scent work without needing to buy or make anything and the bonus is that there is no need to transfer the dog from expecting a reward to be in the scent box and then from you. You just teach the dog, the same way as obedience, that if the dog does the behavior you want you will reward the dog from the start. It is just much easier for the dog and trainer in my opinion.
