It is cool having a dog that’s a little bit extra! It gives us the ability to hands on experience what some clients go through, and different ways to address it 💜 I would love to see more of your stuff! Your last video was so smooth and beautiful!!!!!

The group name is already in play as both of us have multiple dogs that respond to a group name. For example, when I say “ladies heel”, it means both of my dogs are expected to heel, same thing for Christina and her dogs. Using the name individually is how we teach it initially. Practicing individually keeps the dogs sharp and allows for troubleshooting. Storm and Theo have no history. This was their first time working together. Storm is aggressive and hates anyone she doesn’t know (dog or a human). I usually do not use her as a demo dog (especially in our backyard) because when I work her I have to pay attention to her; so having her around new clients that need instruction is not ethical. I do work her with some of my more experienced clients and we go out and work our dogs together for fun (in neutral settings). I thought it would be worth a shot with Theo because Storm knows Christina and loves her, and her other dog Lucy. So I assumed that Storm would be fine (even in the backyard) and she was!!!

We started this session by going out front and walking the dogs yard just in case Storm was not going to be amicable.

I think the main issue is that LIMA is being redefined to fit a variety of narratives, so the government legislation is being heavily influenced and financed in a fraudulent and harmful manner by entities that will benefit monetarily by legislation passing, like the AVMA.

I am looking for an article I have on this….it is around here somewhere….but in very broad explanation the wag means there is engagement of the emotion that creates the position…. it says something about a right side leaning wag and left side leaning wag….and that the helicopter tail is joy usually due to a greeting…..Sorry I can’t recall more….Ill find it and share! Mike has some links here too… I like this study ALOT! https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9356099/

Maybe try giving her a different command, that she can receive praise for completing, instead of “enough” which is basically just “stop doing that”. Thinking of a replacement behavior where all four quadrants of OC are in play can help alleviate anxiety that is associated with interrupters. Maybe a recall would be useful, this way she is coming to you and receiving love and maybe even some cookies, this could change her perception of this engagement.

Roo is noise sensitive in general, so we are gun breaking (counter conditioning her reaction to loud booms) her to help with her fear of fireworks; which happens about once a week in our neighborhood.

I think that is a decision that you have to make between yourself and your clients. My clients all know about k9-1 and sign a media release. The reason I brought up leadership and dominance is because it is helpful even for you to practice those things if you have the dog at your home with your dogs, especially if you will be giving commands or using interrupters. This will also help give you a better idea of how the dog could potentially respond in his home if his owner practices leadership, and some troubleshooting to help him with.

I would strongly suggest watching the leadership streams. Controlling resting places, affection and interactions is so important. Dominance is designed to prevent conflict, therefore mixed signals in leadership and dominance can create conflict. Obedience is very important but is not what creates cohesiveness in relationships. The look is command is good but doesn’t necessarily address why the dogs are actually in conflict. If there are mixed signals in leadership and dominance, obedience training can actually increase conflict as it doesn’t make sense to receive orders or corrections from someone who is not in a position (from the dog’s perception) to give them. “Human possessiveness” might be more simply described as “controlling affection and interactions in the group”.

I don’t even know where to start with Storm’s story. I started my basic membership here in August 2019, got Storm because a rescue I was teaching handling classes at set her aside for me…I didn’t want her because I wanted a specific kind of Rottie…..but we went to look at her so as not to be rude…of course I couldn’t walk away from her…..and she is my soul mate…..I started my mentorship 4.0 with Mike right after that. So she has basically been my FSDT puppy……we have gone through this process together. She was ALOT! She has so many health issues, surgeries, aggression (started at 5 months) dealt with my failures….lol we are a mess…together. Even though I have made mistakes with her….I shudder to think what her life would have been if I had gotten her without FSDT.
