Hey some thoughts from going thru the same experience our pup is now 21 weeks and I am battling anxious behavior around people that aren’t family but I put old tshirts that I wore around the house in her crate with her which helped the howling a lot as long as she had something with our scent on it she was quiet. And the kongs are great I put peanut butter in it and freeze it and I also use baked bones, knuckles, and cow hooves I get from tractor supply.

Sorry late night typing Jasper is spaztastic when people come into our house. I am able to calm him down some put have to play offensive line with him. He isn’t aggressive at all just over the top spaz and he has a tendancy to mouth on the wrist, he has been doing that since we got him and he was about 15 weeks old, he is 1 1/2 now. His backround he was dumped at a firehouse at a guess of 5 weeks they called a rescue which is where we got him from. The rescue is great she rund it out of her house and she doesn’t have a lot of dogs, she took the time to housebreak and crate train him before we got him and had him fixed. We have tried place training which he does until people come in. I have not done much training with distraction that might help but also I am not a dog trainer got everything I know from watching Victoria and Ceaser( I am watching videos on the site now which is helping).

I got the email about the training and if I could survive with no income for 8 weeks I would do it in a heartbeat. There are dog trainers here but very few with a good reputation or the ones at petsmart which are a joke.

Update the food issue is getting better she still charges you when you have it but I am now working the same ritual we do with our other dog Jasper she has to sit before the food gets put down then affection from us before she is allowed to eat. The house training is on going but with your tips I am confident it is going to get better. Now it’s time to take her to get her next round of shots. I am watching all the training videos. Also she is actually chewing her food now instead of swallowing it whole. She is doing well with sitting, and our recall. Are there any foundation trainers in Indy?

Side note my other dog Jasper( mutt but definitly some sort of shepherd or malinois mix) we have been able to get him to be calm when people come in the house and mouthing. He is very well behaved with me my thought is I haven’t done much training with distraction and that might be the weak link.
