About:
Lacey is now 2 yrs old. She has learned so much over the past 18 months since joining K9-1. We know our command structure and most commands. We're working on heeling & walking nicely on lead - which she does great in the house & back yard ... We're in Phase 2 in most areas of obedience; but heeling & loose lead walking has still been problematic. She is easily distracted by shadows & reflective lights, traffic noises & other dogs. She gets extremely excited when the leash comes out, and it's been difficult to calm her down before it's time to walk out the door. Lately, she's been showing some leash frustration & reacting to other dogs. I've changed her from the Starmark to a chain slip lead for training & walking on-lead, but she usually does better in her tactical vest with front clip.
I'd still like to train for better calmness, protection, reintroduce some scent work & begin working on some agility again, and certainly get her walks more enjoyable for both of us. Impulse control is improving, in the house - but not outside.
We've started leaving the door to her "house" (kennel) open at night again, and she doesn't wander the house at night. She sleeps either in her kennel, or on the floor next to my side of the bed. The only problem we have is with her eating the cat's food if the baby gate to our bathroom is left open.
We have blue painters tape on the floor, on both entrances to our kitchen, giving her a strict boundary line, and she's learning to not breach that line.
