You can also get prong collar covers if you don’t like the how the prong collar looks walking around the hood. i think herm sprenger makes them.

It will be almost impossible to control him in those situations with just the check choke and flexi. a good rule of thumb is that if it seems very difficult and stressful to deal with the situation, than just keep him away from it until you can overcome it in a training environment. Eddie just started Phase 3 , so he will be able to be controlled in that situation within the coming weeks. Him dealing with those situations that way by barking, lunging, etc is worse than keeping him unsocialized until you can put him in the situation with the ability to calmly control him. for instance, I never even attempt off property training with an inkennel aggression case until the dog has a good handle on most the phase 3 execises. particularly the “heel” and “sit”. bringing eddie out on a phase 1 collar and a flexi is basically an invitation for failure since u are essentially going to have to attempt the role of alpha dog without teeth.quick answer to this is just keep him out of the situation for now. you will be able to succeed in a few more weeks if u handle him like we will train him in the lessons.

    Hey Erik,
Ha! Wasn’t expecting you to join since im not finished here yet, but anyway, welcome to my back yard! I would suggest reading through all the literature first on the selfhelp section. That is where it says – start selfhelp. Seems like there is a timing problem. Housebreaking can be complicated so in order to troubleshoot see first in the self-help section to see what you are and are not doing and then let me know.

seems like we narrowed down the issue tonight. last lesson was complete sits/downs and push ups, but seems as if Lou was using a little too much hand to place Eddie back into position and less and sometimes almost no leash to teach correction. Eddie seemed to have been swiveling to avoid the hand. There is also lesser chance that it may have been related to facing Lou to look for treat.
Regardless we worked on it by doing the push ups on a platform today and being sure to not use the hand and concentrate on gentle leash corrections. If he backed up or swiveled he would break his “climb”, so Eddie is going to work that way for a week to get out of that habit and just concentrate on the chain reaction and correct positions. Eddie and Lou did awesome on starting the heel tonight!
