We have been slowly doing exactly what you laid out as far as the tug game….her confidence is building.
She will play a prolonged game with little wins big wins and hanging on for longer periods of time….I have multiple bite pillows and tugs on ropes for her. It works well to relieve pressure. He also has safe bite gear on ropes and a giant flirt pole, but I’m not sure how their technique is developing. Today we were mostly reviewing and I wanted to see if the game could be used as a reward….It seems like she is definitely starting to view it as a positive thing and she genuinely enjoys it, which is a huge step. It was always heartbreaking to watch her engage in what we would consider enjoyable play and have it be so stressful and conflicting for her. It seems like we are mostly over that hump.
We were getting pretty far and I was feeling ready to increase the intensity level so that she really gets an outlet and then Jorge wasn’t able to schedule. He has been to a couple group classes, but not for a session like this. I wish I would’ve gotten more of the bite work on camera. Her targeting is better and she feels less sketchy up close…but she needs work.
Today I tried to reiterate the importance and the benefit of bite work for her… so I’m crossing my fingers that he will do it more frequently.
Currently they go off leash running together and do some play in the yard.
I will mention hiding things in the yard! That’s something he could easily do!
