Thanks for the update! This has been one of my favorite cases to follow, mostly because it’s been incredible to watch George’s growth as a handler and your patient coaching. I know how many tiny steps it took just to get them to a point of safely enjoying everyday activities together.
It looks like the biggest hurdle now will be filling the void left by her playmate. Malinois really are a lifestyle to keep balanced! The more shared joy they can find, the better. Mastering the tug to maximize fulfillment during obedience will be huge.
I bet she would thrive on any activity where she gets to hunt with George, such as simple trailing or nosework with a big kill reward at the end. Even just hiding things around the yard and using a rope tug as the final kill after a fulfilling fight would be an awesome outlet.
How is she with longer games of tug on a rope with fewer obedience breaks? Will she tug for prolonged periods, let the rope go limp for the win, and then start pulling and fighting again for another round?
I have found that style of play is excellent for dogs like her from a safety point of view for the handler while really maximizing fulfillment. This way, George is still initiating and ending the game, remaining in the lead, while also ensuring she gets plenty of wins before it wraps up to reduce frustration.
