Short training session with KJ.
We practiced commands while walking. When I teach the dog commands during movement and the dog is supposed to stay in place, I turn toward them and use my body to block the way so they don’t keep walking and it’s easier for them to perform the command. Only after mastering this, I move on to giving commands while walking without turning to face the dog.
I’m also teaching her the “heel” command on my left side — I’ve noticed that it’s actually much more convenient with two dogs at once.
We’re about to start avoidance conditioning phase 2. We’ve taught the “conditioned punisher” for all commands except “heel” due to the side switch. Time to introduce the full command structure with KJ!
