Good thoughts! I add the command right away I find it actually helps. That said: this is FSDT.
For a dog that is not familiar with command structure and is afraid to try new things and make mistakes adding the command too early could cause side effects. Before FSDT and with some dogs that have side effects from previous training that may be a consideration as the “command” makes them feel concern. When the dog is familiar with learning new things and having those things be good for them and they are not afraid to make mistakes I find it helps them and it actually expedites the process.
