    When you say “rooted in social” are you referring to it being related to the animals “socialization” and their perception of being in new environments with variables or the animals perception of inter familial relationships (AKA social status)?

    If it were in relationship to socialization it wouldn’t make sense ethologically that the self advocacy would be toward a core group member in common living areas around common interactions. If you mean in relation to familial relationships then it would be related to dominance and/or leadership. I like what @Mike mentioned in the video above. My impression from David’s description and the video of Ben is that it is related to aversives and cynopraxis. I am interested to see how this evolves.

    This is a great link that covers all of the above. I really like the standardization of terms and definitions. I have abandoned the use of many terms I used prior to FSDT as I have realized they were misleading and no longer useful.
