I have a similar “problem” with heel. Since I teach traditional heel to my clients, my Koka as a business card must also do it this way. And when it comes to e.g. instructional videos, I use my students’ dogs so that the dog does not immediately perform on verbal command.
However, as Mike showed in one of the videos (I think creating instructions for ratio and interval) how he does 1 step heel it made a big impression on me (walking in a square backwards etc.) and I started with that. If we have some “difficult” situation, e.g. we are walking through a crowded street and I don’t have a leash with me, I use competitive heel – we have different command for each, and in the privacy of my home we slowly practice traditional heel.
However 2.- since you do a nice duration and the dog can easily withstand it for a longer amount of time, why didn ‘t you show it in the video 😛
