Do dogs “alert” to changes in the family? My thoughts would be he is exhibiting obtrusive behavior to control interactions, or demand something. Before impulse control could be worked on, I would focus on leadership, and try to unpack the barking. When people say the “dogs barks at everything” that is usually their interpretation….but dogs do things for reasons that make sense to them. Even if that means to try and make their environment make sense. What do they do for drive balance? What are the ages and breeds of the other dogs? Are there children? Do they free feed? If so where is the food? Is there conflict (real or perceived) that you can identify through a consultation? Lots of variables to consider in conjunction with ABA. You can never go wrong by going up the pyramid with people. That will always help you unpack the truth behind the issues at hand.
