I saw a few trainers posting about this yesterday, part of my duties as local PD includes dog control work.

I was at the NYS Dept of Agriculture and Markets ACO/DCO conference in Guilderland NY this past November. There was a so called “behaviorist” pushing the Michael Skikashi nonsense that Mike put a video out about. There was also multiple people speaking that were lobbying the Govt. None of this legislation was mentioned so this much be something very new on the table so far. They did have a few people with obvious baises and either Dept of AG and Markets for NYS is intentionally pushing this nonsensical legislation or they are just ignorant and dont know any better. I did point out that alot of info last year that was put out was either biased psuedo science pushed by fraudulent trainers and that some of these people didnt know what they were talking about. I even requested to hold a powerpoint specifically on Dog Behavior and a leash ninja type of course which the commissioner originally thought was a good idea and i was later informed that they would have the same person pushing the fake science from last year. (alot of kennel staff and SPCA investigators also agreed with me that some of these people were biased or ignorant).

I will be at the conference again this november, so i will be reporting back on what they’re saying. I have expressed to the Dept of Ag and Markets my distrust and frustration with these lobbyists. citing that yes everyone here has good intentions but they dont even know what theyre doing and its going to kill the industry and hurt people like us who can actually handle the dogs that they most likely turn away deeming the dog “untrainable”, or in some cases recommend euthanasia as a solution.
