Good work. So, depending on the age and food motivation we want to keep sessions short as they are also physically taxing. Now that she understands to use her nose let’s really work the nose. Toss maybe 5 out at a time. Again depending on age and motivation spreading out further each time. Remember when I talked about the types of searching the dogs do? Some hone in and work till they find that one. Some, if they smell another treat will stop searching for the first one if they think the other one is closer. Be sure to take note of her tendency. This would be the stage to start working on staying focused. If you find she is distracted throw just one treat. As soon as she finds it and eats good girl and throw another. This will build focus and hunt drive. Be sure to watch for fatigue. Leave her wanting more.
