I don’t show it because it’s not relevant to training check list, there is no stay really on it 😆 plus staring for 2 min on the dog which does nothing is boring! My video is too long already.
About two different styles of heel.
What helped in my case, was the position for competitive heel in IKC obedience. For traditional heel I don’t have my hand on the hip! It was that simple! We have two commands- heel for obedience one and ‘za mna’ for traditional heel.
Again that is not on video as it’s irrelevant for FSDT obedience check list.
here is nice phase 2 heel work from Mike. Mike has also somewhere full class recorded when they practice one step heel. You can do it in straight line too. It’s kind of therapeutic, as dog finally relax with you following rhythm.
If I wouldn’t compete, I would focus on traditional heel only as it’s better for everyday life. But me and Pix love a bit of adrenaline from time to time 😉 plus I think it’s good for trainer to be seen by general public. And also you can check yours and your dog skills in busy unpredictable environment. This way you have a goal to achieve.
