We Create Training Systems and Solutions for Working Dogs and their Handlers
K9-1 Specialized Dog Training has roots in training dogs for military, police, private security, and other working projects.
We recognize the pitfalls that a lack of standards in the industry causes. This can cause a variety of problems including:
- Public safety and liability issues
- Poor performance by the "trained" dog
- Handler frustration
- Inhumane treatment of the dogs during training and on the job
- Increase in the amount of dog bites to the handlers
If you recognize a problem in your working dog program, contact us to see how we can help.[/list][divider_line type="divider_shadow" opacity="25"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width="1/2"][vc_column_text]" My name is Jason Albrechtsen. I am the K9 sergeant for the City of Newburgh Police Department. I have been involved in K9 as a handler myself, unit supervisor, and USPCA Judge for about 10 of my 15 year and continuing career. Through my position I had the absolute pleasure to come and meet Mike D'Abruzzo and his company K9-1.
After my time with Mike and the acquisition of one of his German Shepherds, there isn't enough time to express my satisfaction and great impression Mike made and continues to make. Through Mike's unsurpassed passion for K9's he has come up with an impeccable, modern, and unique training style. Having used it myself I honestly feel this is the technique that dog owners and police officers should use. There is never a worry about hurting your partner, however Mike sacrifices nothing with his technique, emphasizing on total control of your dog without being forceful in teaching it. I've seen a dog "enjoy" the learning phase of training and every aspect of training thereafter. The bond I have created with my dog using K9-1's technique is amazing, and the relationship my dog and I have is beyond what I ever expected or have had with any K9.
